Lipscomb & Pitts Breakfast Club

History and Ownership

The Lipscomb & Pitts Breakfast Club was established in Memphis, TN in 2005. Lipscomb & Pitts Insurance has owned the Lipscomb & Pitts Breakfast Club since 2007.

Purpose

The purpose of the Lipscomb & Pitts Breakfast Club is to foster teamwork among Mid-South business leaders and to provide as many enrichment opportunities, as possible, to strengthen the business community and help pave the way for business leaders to become more involved in the community.  The Breakfast Club hosts some events for members only and others for members and the business community, at large.  Internally, members work together and help each other by acting as a sounding board for ideas and information, as well as a referral network for sales and introductions.

The Club is committed to selecting the best members in each core business category and dedicated to helping each of the members grow their business and business relationships.  Just as much, the Club is committed to helping each company get more involved in the community.

We believe that people do business with people they know and trust...and that business is all about relationships and working together.  We also believe that we have a wonderful opportunity to engage business leaders from all industries and to make a positive contribution to the Mid-South business and social community.

Events/Programs

The Lipscomb & Pitts Breakfast Club hosts or facilitates around 100 events each year, designed to bring members and other business leaders together. The most well-known is the Signature Breakfast, which the Club hosts eight (8) times per year with an average attendance around 300 business leaders.  In conjunction with the Signature Breakfast events, the Club also hosts weekly executive lunches, sales force and referral lunches, social mixers, golf outings, tennis matches, leadership workshops, business seminars, PM Receptions, and more.  These events are open to all member companies and selected guests via personal invitations from member companies.

Charity Spotlight, Non-Profit Tours, Give Back Afternoons

Part of the mission and goal of the Lipscomb & Pitts Breakfast Club is to make a positive contribution to the social community of the Mid-South.  Each year, the Club honors and recognizes a number of non-profit and charitable organizations, through various programs and vehicles, such as the Charity Spotlight, which is a part of the Signature Breakfast.

The Club also works with a number of charitable organizations to help place members on their Board of Directors or get members more involved in such things as mentoring.  For instance, the Breakfast Club has a strategic partnership with the MILE Program at the University of Memphis, which engages business leaders to become mentors to some of the best and brightest students at the UofM.  Part of this initiative also includes hosting lunches for members interested in learning more about the needs and requirements of specific charitable organizations, then trying to find those personal matches.  The Club coordinates special non-profit tour days, approximately once a month, and specific events, geared toward raising awareness and increasing participation among both members and business leaders, all across the Mid-South.  .

Perhaps one of the most inspirational experiences is with the Give Back Afternoon, in which both members and guests roll up their sleeves and physically get involved with community projects.  These projects are always tons of fun and involve such things as tutoring school-age children, planting flowers and trees, picking up trash and cleaning neighborhoods, or working on other special projects.  They are great ways for business leaders to come together and give back to our community.
